A Cracker of a Christmas Bolthole
The baubles. The sparkling lights. Heck, even a little bit of tinsel. We love Christmas and we’re not afraid to show it. Fortunately for fervent followers of the festivities like us, there’s no better place in the world to celebrate the most magical time of the year than Edinburgh.
The nation’s capital comes alive for Edinburgh’s Christmas from November 16 – a winter wonderland of festive fairground rides, light installations, music, European-style markets….and gallons of gluhwein. Not that we’d know anything about the latter, of course.
All of the action is centred in and around the main thoroughfare of Princes Street, which is just a 10-minute walk from the Residence. It kicks off with Light Night – a fireworks display and mass choir to herald the lights switch on – on George Street on November 18.
From them on you can spend your days – and nights – browsing the market stalls, enjoying festive food and drink, soaking up the carnival atmosphere and, brand new for this year, Silent Light. You’ll have the chance to sing and dance in a silent disco under a spectacular art installation festooned with thousands of lightbulbs that will synchronise to the music.
When you’re ready to step off the Christmas merry-go-round, you’ll find our elves have been working overtime to create simply stunning apartments behind the façade of our Georgian townhouses in Chester Street and Rothesay Place. The word on the street is that even Mrs Claus has put at stay at the Chester Residence on her wish list – but it all depends on whether her workaholic hubby will take some time off.
From our fantastic penthouse apartments offering seasonal – and hopefully snowy – views to our luxurious grand apartments where you can get lost in the parish church-like proportions, you’ll want to stay cocooned inside until the bells ring in 2019 and then some.
And for those who have managed to keep themselves off the naughty list for a full 12 months the ultimate in hedonistic luxury awaits. The Owner’s Residence really does offer a home away from home – but only if your own abode has a cinema room, jacuzzi and is filled with gorgeous designer furnishings.
If you are travelling to Edinburgh to enjoy the festivities, then give yourself an early Christmas present with a stay at the Residence – voted Edinburgh’s number one property on TripAdvisor for the past five years.
Santa Claus is coming to town – and you should too.
