There are seven festivals taking place in the city this month. That’s right, seven! So whether you want to while away an afternoon with friends or entertain the kids, there’s loads to see and do in the city this June:
Edinburgh Short Film Festival (6 – 15 Jun) www.edinburghshortfilmfestival.com
This festival showcases the best international and locally-made short films at various eclectic venues across the city.
Meadows Festival (7 – 8 Jun) www.meadowsfestival.org
A popular annual community festival held in the meadows. This year’s line-up includes live music, market stalls and family fun and games galore. A great day out for all the family.
Edinburgh Festival of Cycling (12 – 22 Jun) www.edfoc.org.uk
Listed by The Guardian as one of the UK’s best cycling festivals, the EFC runs for 10 days and includes a choice of rides (sporty and otherwise), family activities and a range of cultural events.
Leith Festival(14 – 22 Jun) www.leithfestival.com
Dance, sport, music, theatre, film, family entertainment and walking tours…the Leith Festival has it all. Kids will love the Pageant & Gala Day on Saturday 14th June, from 11am – 4.30pm.
Edinburgh International Film Festival(18 – 29 Jun) www.edfilmfest.org.uk
The oldest ever continually running film festival, the EIF is in its 698th year. This renowned annual event celebrates the best of UK and international cinema over 12 days.
Royal Highland Show (19 – 22 Jun) www.royalhighlandshow.org
Four days of entertainment, children’s activities, shopping, food and drink and al fresco living - as well as farming - as the Royal Highland Show 2014 brings the countryside to the city.
